On Thursday, January 21, 2021, 7:00pm – 8:30pm Waterkeepers Chesapeake and Potomac Riverkeeper Network are co-hosting a virtual film screening and panel discussion on the new documentary, The Story of Plastic.
Register for this event today and receive a login link! You’ll receive a streaming link for the film 2 weeks before the panel discussion.
Stories and film have a unique ability to bridge divides and bring us together as part of something bigger than ourselves – to connect us and create empathy during perilous times. We hope The Story of Stuff’s new film The Story of Plastic will serve as a tool to foster connection, spark dialogue, and create action.
We have three incredible panelists joining us who are involved in the plastic crisis on a daily basis.
- Potomac Riverkeeper Dean Naujoks will discuss the plastic issues that he’s witnessed in our local waterways, and how community members can work together to help end this plastic crisis.
- Dr. Jesse Meiller of American University will be joining us to discuss her research on microplastics pollution in tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay.
- Marty Gary, the Executive Secretary of the Potomac River Fisheries Commission, will join to discuss issues stemming from plastics pollution that he’s witnessed in the Potomac River.
This event will be moderated by Robin Broder, Deputy Director of Waterkeepers Chesapeake.
Be sure to follow us on social media where we’ll continue to post updates about plastics legislation and the great work that our Waterkeepers are doing!
We thank MOM’s Organic Market for their generous sponsorship of this event!
