In Defense of Water 2021

Our 5th annual In Defense of Water awards event was on Wednesday, October 6 from 6:30pm - 8:30pm. This year, Patagonia Old Town hosted our small, in person event at their new location in a converted historical theater building in Old Town Alexandria. The event was live streamed on Facebook. In Defense of Water marked our soft launch of our 2022 Clean Water Act 50th Anniversary Campaign (CWA50). Several Waterkeepers entertained us with Clean Water Act success stories.

Assateague Coastkeeper Kathy Phillips was honored with the Waterkeeper Outstanding Win (WOW) Award for her tireless work fighting for clean water and environmental justice for the communities living in the Lower Eastern Shore and coastal bays region. Read press statement here.

Natasza Bock-Singleton received our Water Warrior Award for her perseverance and amazing volunteer community activism to bring attention to and solutions for sewage backups in homes in Baltimore. Read her story here.

We offered fantastic giveaway items from Patagonia, MOM's Organic Market, Go Play Outside, and Amabile Designs!

Thank you to Patagonia Old Town for the generous donation of the venue, food and giveaway items!
