Get Out on the Water with Your Local Waterkeeper!

It’s the season to get out on the water with our Waterkeepers! This summer you can sign up for paddle trips, river cleanups, swim and cycle events, and other volunteer opportunities with our Waterkeepers throughout the region. We have gathered all of these activities on our website calendar to make it super easy for you to find what’s happening on your local waterway. Get out and connect with your local waterway – and your local Waterkeeper!

Potomac Riverkeeper Network’s RiverPalooza paddle series

RiverPalooza is a season-long annual event designed to provide families and river enthusiasts with memorable on-the-water experiences that build a deep and enduring appreciation for the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers. RiverPalooza’s canoe outings, fishing excursions, camping trips, kayak adventures, snorkeling, and floats for all skill levels make it a popular event for all ages

Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper’s Floating Classroom series

Travel along the banks of the West Branch of the Susquehanna River on the Hiawatha Paddlewheel Riverboat and engage in river-based, hands-on learning activities created for families and their young explorers

James River Association’s Guided Paddle series

Join the James River Association on guided canoe and kayak programs on the Powhatan Creek in James City County and the James River and its tributaries in the Richmond region.

Do you want to volunteer with your local Waterkeeper? Do you already volunteer? Our local Waterkeepers rely on you to help them to protect and restore our local waterways. Volunteers help with trash cleanups, monitor water quality, staff events, report pollution, assist in the office, help advocate on issues, and much more.
