Have you heard of Chesapeake Bay Week with Maryland Public Television? On the week of April 18th through April 24th, Maryland Public TV will be showing several films that showcase our Chesapeake Bay watershed, including some of our Waterkeepers. We’re excited to be a sponsor this year. Keep an eye out for the Waterkeepers Chesapeake ad spot during that week, and check out the full schedule of broadcasts here.
The Power of Plants to Protect Water – April 20th
Join us on Tuesday, April 20 at noon for an Earth Day ‘Lunch & Learn’ with our Waterkeepers to talk about The Power of Plants to Protect Clean Water. All across our region, Waterkeepers have programs to encourage the use of natives plants and trees, water-friendly lawn and garden practices, and stream buffers and living shoreline practices. Staff from Blue Water Baltimore, James River Association and ShoreRivers will talk about what they are doing and answer your questions. We’ll demonstrate how you can take pledges to adopt water-friendly practices in your yard and neighborhood through our Clear Choices Clean Water campaign. Register today!
Community Night for Fair Farms on April 28th
Save the date! Well Crafted Kitchen recently launched their Dockside Pick-Up Community Night in partnership with UNION Craft Brewing. On April 28th, you’ll have a chance to show your love for Fair Farms while eating delicious pizza featuring locally-grown ingredients. Well Crafted is creating a special menu for the day and portion of the kitchen’s specials will be donated to Fair Farms. As for the libations, $1 from every 6-pack purchased from UNION will also go to yours truly. See you there!
Celebrate Earth Day with Your Waterkeeper!
Looking for ways to help your community this Earth Month? Our Waterkeepers are hosting several volunteer events over the coming month. You could participate in a river cleanup, help plant native trees, or even watch a webinar about how you can become more sustainable right at home. Head over to our website and check out our events calendar to pick your next event!
You and I and our Earth are mostly water. 71% of the Earth’s surface is covered in water. Only 3% is fresh water. And only 0.5% is available to us. Please consider a special Earth Day donation. For our Waterkeepers, everyday is Earth Day — a day to protect our precious water resources for everyone and every community.
