Senate Bill 773, if passed, would require the Maryland Department of the Environment to monitor pollution from industrial-scale chicken operations and report its findings back to the General Assembly.

‚ÄúSome would argue that it is the job of the (Maryland Department of Environment) to monitor the emissions from these chickenhouses," said Kathy Phillips, the Assateague Coastkeeper and frequent critic of heavy farming practices in the region. "Right now, they aren't."
