Going on between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. will be the 2016 Susquehanna Biathlon, which combines trail running and paddling. The final paddling leg ends at the boat launch.
The event is hosted by the Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association.
“We got national coverage last year and much of it was about the negative side of the mayflies,” says Michael Helfrich, the Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper.
“Those of us who are intimate with our watershed know this was absolutely a fabulous thing and not to be condemned and ridiculed.
“The Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association has decided to use this as an educational moment and time to celebrate the health of the Susquehanna River and our communities. The return of the mayflies represents our renewed commitment to having fishable, swimmable and drinkable water for all residents and visitors to our incredible river and surrounding lands.”
